Privacy Policy
Effective date: March 4, 2026
Keptic is a clipboard manager for macOS and iOS. We built it with privacy as a core principle: your clipboard data stays on your devices.
What Data We Collect
Keptic captures clipboard content that you copy on your Mac, including:
- Text content (plain text, rich text, HTML, URLs)
- Image data (screenshots, copied images)
- Source application name and bundle identifier
- Source URL (when copying from a web browser)
- Timestamp of each clipboard event
All data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.
AI Processing
Keptic uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models to classify clipboard items into categories (code, links, emails, etc.) and detect sensitive content such as passwords and API keys. This AI processing runs entirely on your device — no clipboard data is sent to any external server or API.
iCloud Sync
If you are signed into iCloud, your clipboard history syncs across your devices via Apple CloudKit. This sync uses Apple's end-to-end encryption. We do not operate any servers — Apple handles all sync infrastructure. You can disable iCloud sync in your device's system settings.
Encryption
Sensitive clipboard items (passwords, API keys, tokens) are encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM before being stored. The encryption key is kept in your iCloud Keychain and never transmitted outside of Apple's infrastructure. Encrypted items are synced as ciphertext — the plaintext never leaves your device unencrypted.
Sensitive Content
Keptic automatically detects content that may be sensitive (passwords, credentials, API keys) and marks it accordingly. Sensitive items are:
- Hidden by default in the app
- Protected by Face ID, Touch ID, or device passcode
- Excluded from Spotlight search indexing
- Configurable for auto-deletion after 1, 6, 12, 24, or 48 hours
Third-Party Services
Keptic does not use any third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising frameworks. The only external services used are:
- Apple CloudKit — for iCloud sync (Apple's infrastructure)
- Apple StoreKit — for in-app purchases (Apple handles all payment processing)
We never collect, sell, or share your data with third parties.
Payments
In-app purchases are processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We do not collect or store any payment information.
Data Retention
Your clipboard history is stored on your device for as long as you choose. You can delete individual items, clear all history, or uninstall the app to remove all local data. iCloud data can be managed through your iCloud account settings.
Children's Privacy
Keptic does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The app is rated 4+ and does not contain any age-restricted content.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
