Troubleshooting
Clips aren't appearing on my iPhone
Make sure you're signed into the same iCloud account on both devices. Go to Settings > Apple Account > iCloud and confirm that Keptic is enabled for iCloud sync. Also check that your Mac is online — clips sync from Mac to iPhone via CloudKit.
Keptic isn't capturing clipboard changes on Mac
Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility and make sure Keptic is listed and enabled. Keptic needs accessibility permission to monitor the clipboard and paste into other apps. If it's already enabled, try removing and re-adding it.
The global hotkey (Cmd+Shift+V) isn't working
Another app may be using the same shortcut. Open Keptic Settings > Shortcuts and try recording a different key combination. If the shortcut still doesn't work, check that Keptic has accessibility permission in System Settings.
AI categorization isn't working
AI features require Apple Silicon (M-series Mac or iPhone 15 Pro and later) running macOS 26 or iOS 26. If your hardware supports it, the on-device model may need time to download after an OS update. Check the Diagnostics tab in Settings for more details.
I can't see sensitive clips
Sensitive items are hidden by default to protect your credentials. Tap Reveal on a clip detail and authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode to view the content.
Sync shows an error
Common sync errors and fixes:
- "Not authenticated" — Sign into iCloud in System Settings / Settings.
- "Quota exceeded" — Free up iCloud storage or upgrade your iCloud plan.
- "Network error" — Check your internet connection and try again.
- "Service unavailable" — Apple's servers may be temporarily down. Try again later.
Subscription & Purchases
How do I restore my purchase on a new device?
Open Keptic Settings > Subscription and your purchase should be detected automatically. If not, your subscription is tied to your Apple Account — make sure you're signed into the same account that made the purchase. Subscriptions sync automatically through the App Store.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed through the App Store. On iPhone, go to Settings > Apple Account > Subscriptions. On Mac, open the App Store > Account > Subscriptions. Your existing clips will remain accessible after cancellation.
What's included in the free trial?
The free trial gives you 200 lifetime clips with basic heuristic categorization and iCloud sync. After 200 clips, new copies won't be saved until you upgrade. Upgrading to Pro gives you unlimited clips (up to 5,000 in history), AI categorization, and AI-powered semantic search.
General
Does Keptic work on iPad?
Yes. The iPhone app runs on iPad with full support for the larger screen, including a split-view navigation layout. Clips sync to iPad the same way they sync to iPhone — via iCloud.
Can I export my clipboard history?
On Mac, right-click any clip to see export options — save as text file, code file, image, open in browser, add to Notes, or add to Safari Reading List. On iPhone, use the share button to export clips via the system share sheet.
Where are my logs?
Open Settings > Diagnostics to view, export, or clear application logs. You can also view logs in Console.app by filtering for the "com.keptic" subsystem.
